Gethsemane is blessed with individuals who are willing to serve Jesus Christ in Kenya. These individuals sacrifice a great deal in order to provide Christian and loving homes for orphans who were once in poverty.
Sylvester & Ruth Ondieki
Director & Home Parents
Sylvester and Ruth co-founded Gethsemane International with Chip and Kim Maye (see Our Story). They both love children and have sacrificially given their lives to helping children know the love of Jesus Christ.
Sylvester was our Director of Operations since the beginning. Sylvester had both a heart for seeing children follow Jesus Christ and a passion for wise stewardship with God’s resources. Sylvester passed away on May 25, 2023 suddenly from a stroke. Sylvester was a great man who served God whole heartedly and humbly. Sylvester will be always missed. We thank God for Sylvester and the great impact he had on so may lives he served. Click here to read Sylvester’s Memorial.
Ruth continues to serve as Home Mother and Mentor to many. She continues to teach, disciple and guide the children each day as the faithful matron.

Gethsemane Int’l, Inc. employs over 15 staff members who serve in our children’s home and our K-8th grade school.
